Can I install the training app on Android or iOS?
No, the training app is specifically developed for Microsoft Windows
The complete set of options is not visible, what is wrong?
If you do not see the full screen and all the options, you are probably not using FULL SCREEN mode. You need to make sure that you use FULL SCREEN mode to do your training. You might have minimized the screen at one point, but you need the full screen to see all options for the tests.
What is the expiry on the license key(s)?
To ensure a bette lifecycle managment of keys issued, we have from June 9, 2026, applied a 3 years expiry, from the date the key is issued. It has nothing to do with the time limit for completion, which is 90 days. It’s also not related to the validity of the certificate, so it’s not shown on the certificate. It relates only to the license key purchased, before it’s activated for training. For full details, please review the Terms and Conditions available in our website.
Polar certificate, why is my certificate empty in “ID”?
I you have not entered anything in that field when creating your account, this part is empty in your certificate. If you fill in your National ID, then we can re-generate your certificate for you.
Polar certificate, why do I get “Nothing to Display”?
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to issue a certificate automatically any longer. We will need to receive your CoC to issue the certificate to you. Please send an email to us training@furuno.dk
When do I get my certificate?
When all 10 chapters are completed, and you have clicked VERIFY in the end, you will within 1 hour – and quite automatically – receive your certificate via the personal email you have entered, when you created your profile. It might end up in spam or junk mail, so check to see if it’s there, before you contact FURUNO Maritime Training.

When do I receive my certificate?
When all 10 chapters are completed, you will shortly after and quite automatically receive your certificate via the personal email you have entered, when you created your account. It might end up in spam or junk mail, so check to see if it’s there, before you contact FURUNO Maritime Training. Your certificate is also available for download from your account.
How do I continue my online training?
Entering later the same day or perhaps any other day than the day you activated the license key, you just go to “My Courses” in the top and continue your training.
How can I review the learning content through video playback?
You must create an account and enter a license key, without an account and a license key, you have no access. Thanks to a system upgrade and access to the latest CBT NXT software, you have access to all videos repeatedly, but not the questions.
What do I do if I’m unable to access the videos and get a black screen?
The computer is not using the latest updates to Microsoft Visual C++ app. You should update the Microsoft Visual C++ app and use only the latest version of the training app. We do not recommend that you keep an older version of the app.
I have made an error, and my certificate is wrong, so what to do?
You must contact us, and perhaps send us some verification for example a copy of your passport, then we will re-generate your certificate.
How do I get access to the offline training course?
You must receive a license key from your company or your course administrator. The license key is required to activate the training course and is valid for one certificate.
Can I use a license key that has already been used?
No, the system can see that the license key has been used, and the system will not issue a certificate.
Can I use a company email for my training account?
No, you must use your own personal email. Once the training has been completed, the certificate is automatically forwarded to the email address in your account.
How do I install the Windows training app?
1 Use the “Quick start guide” to download the training app
2 Right click the file and extract all (Unzip)
3 Run the installer to install the training app
Also, a short cut will be located on the desktop.
Can I use someone else’s account for the training?
No, if you use a different account, we have no training records with your name and we will not be able to issue a certificate with your name.
I have made a typing error, so my certificate is wrong
You must correct your profile before you contact us, then we will re-generate your certificate.

What are the STCW certification requirements for maritime training?
The Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Convention sets minimum qualification standards for masters, officers and watch personnel on seagoing merchant ships. All seafarers must complete approved maritime training programs, pass required examinations, and obtain relevant certificates of competency. STCW certification must be renewed every five years and includes mandatory refresher training in areas such as safety, security, and medical care.
When will I receive my License Key for Online training?
We have a processing time of 1 workday – Monday to Friday – from the purchase to the delivery of license key(s). To start you training even faster, you can purchase Direct Access, where you can start right away, and do not need to wait for the delivery of the license key(s).
How many times can a license key be used?
A license key can only be used one time.
Do I need internet for the offline training?
Yes, you need internet to download the training app and to receive your certificate – during the training you do not need internet.
How do I get access to the online training course?
You must go the the online training platform and create an account. When the account has been created, you must insert a valid license key, to get access to the online training course. Only when you have fully completed the Terms & Conditions incl. GDPR – the Data Privacy Policy – will you get access to the training course.

Can I take radar navigation courses online?
Yes, the theoretical portion of radar navigation training can be completed online through approved e-learning platforms. However, practical simulator training must be conducted at an approved training center. Our online radar courses cover radar theory, plotting techniques, collision avoidance, and ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid) systems. Upon completion of the online theory, students must attend a 2-3 day practical session at our training facility.
Is there a time limit to do the online training?
Yes, there is a time limit of 90 days for you to complete your online training course, counting from the day the license key is activated.
Are your maritime courses recognized internationally?
Yes, all our maritime training courses are approved by relevant maritime authorities and meet international STCW standards. Our training center is audited regularly to ensure compliance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements. Certificates issued upon successful completion are recognized globally and accepted by flag states worldwide. We maintain accreditation with major maritime classification societies and regularly update our curriculum to reflect the latest industry standards.
What equipment do I need for online maritime training courses?
For online maritime courses, you will need a computer or tablet with a stable internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps recommended), a modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge), speakers or headphones for audio content, and a webcam for live sessions and examinations. Some courses may require specific software, which will be provided, or made available for download. We recommend a minimum screen size of 10 inches for optimal viewing of charts, diagrams, and simulation exercises.
How often do I need to renew my ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display) certification?
ECDIS certification does not have a mandatory renewal period specified by STCW. However, officers must demonstrate continued proficiency, and many companies require refresher training every 5 years alongside STCW certificate renewals. When transitioning to a different ECDIS system (e.g., from Furuno to JRC), type-specific training is required. We offer both generic ECDIS training and equipment-specific courses for all major manufacturers. Regular updates on software changes and new functionality are also available through our online platform. You could also go for a REFRESH online training course, to keep your skills updated.
